The iconic aluminum flashlight’s company history is told nicely on their website, covering the story of Anthony Maglica, who was born during the Great Depression in New York City. His mother took him to her native Croatia when he was a boy, then in 1950 Anthony fled Post WWII communist-controlled Croatia and moved back to the United States. He taught himself English and saved up enough to put a down payment on a lathe, then opened up his machining business creating components for the aerospace industry and the US military. In 1979 Mr. Maglica presented the Maglite flashlight to the world and the rest, as they say, is history. The company now has a wide range of flashlights that it makes in its Ontario, California facility.
